Edible billboards in South Africa do more than feed the hungry

As part of World Food Day, KOO canned food company constructed an edible billboard in Dobsonville, Soweto.

The billboard was made up of over 2,000 cans of KOO canned food and was created to challenge people's perception of advertising, while also feeding the hungry.

"Advertising is a world which is constantly demanding something from consumers but we actually wanted to use it as a way to give back to them... then we came up with the concept of creating a billboard that could actually feed people. In a country where 12 million people go to bed hungry every single night, it's beautiful thing for us in advertising to be part of an initiative that helps those people", said Nicole Glickman who worked on the campaign.
