Tonic Health Media supports R U OK?'s Indigenous suicide prevention campaign
Mental health awareness organisation R U OK? has launched its new campaign, addressing suicide prevention amongst Indigenous Australians. Tonic Health Media will be supporting the campaign by broadcasting the TVCs and long-form content across the Aboriginal Health TV Network in Aboriginal Medical Services and medical practices.
Titled 'Stronger Together', the campaign comes about after increasing rates of suicide among Indigenous Australians. Through the campaign, R U OK? is aiming to make it easier for Indigenous Australians to communicate their mental health. The campaign consists of TVCs, long-form videos, radio spots, and posters featuring people discussing their experiences and asking one another "are you okay?"
The campaign features Joe Williams, a Wiradjuri first nations Aboriginal man who played in the National Rugby League for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, Penrith Panthers, and Canterbury Bulldogs. Williams is a member of R U OK?'s Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Advisory Group and has suffered from suicidal ideation and bi-polar disorder for the majority of his life.
The campaign was designed and created by Aboriginal-owned and managed agency, 33 Creative. NITV is the key broadcast partner for the campaign, providing R U OK? with a strong national schedule.
